HARRISBURG- Penn State Mont Alto Chancellor Dr. Achampong met with Pennsylvania State Representative Paul Schemel during his visit to the Capitol. The meeting was aimed at discussing the development of the Mont Alto campus and its surrounding community.

Dr. Achampong was accompanied by Mike Ross, president of the Franklin County Area Development Corporation. The group also had a productive conversation with Judy Shaw, Pennsylvania’s deputy secretary of education for higher education in the department’s building on Market Street.

“Our campus community looks forward to working with our state representatives to make Mont Alto the best place to live, work, play, and grow,” said Dr. Achampong.

Representative Schemel, who began his fifth term in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in January 2023, has been a vocal advocate for the development of the Mont Alto campus.

The meeting between Representative Schemel and Penn State Mont Alto officials highlights the importance of collaboration between state representatives and educational institutions in promoting community development.
