WAYNESBORO, PA—Registration is open now to join “Team Salamander” for The Institute’s Salamander Scramble 5K. The race is a fundraiser for The Institute, and held in conjunction with Waynesboro’s Firecracker 5K on Tuesday, July 4.

The lineup for the race begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Waynesboro Area Senior High School parking lot on Second Street. Youth participants aged 6–12 may also compete in the One Mile Fun Run at 7:00 a.m.

Runners or walkers at any level are invited to join Team Salamander by fundraising for The Institute.

“We are looking forward to our sixteenth annual Scramble,” said Jessica Watson, institute assistant director and event coordinator. “Our team has members ranging from elite runners to those who merely stroll the 5K course, and from children to senior citizens.”

New team members receive an eco-tech, made-in-the-USA team jersey, and the entry fee for the Firecracker 5K is covered. In addition, youth and adult event participants will be entered in drawings for an array of prizes.

The top fundraiser prize, Bugani Portable Bluetooth Speakers, will be awarded to the Team Salamander member who raises the most funds for The Institute.

All team members receive special race day benefits like icy cool finish line towels, a VIP tent with food, beverages, along with a one-year membership to The Institute.

“And of course,” said Tracy Holliday, institute executive director, “our Scramblers have the good feeling of knowing that race proceeds support The Institute’s mission and activities throughout the year.”

Event premier sponsor is Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, with added support from Arlene Unger, ReMax/Results (finish line towels). Team Comfort sponsor is Covenant Family Dentistry.

Individuals also sponsor the runners, and PayPal donations may be made through the institute’s website.
