HAGERSTOWN, MD–Washington County Government experienced a cybersecurity incident resulting in disruption to certain computer systems, the county’s website, and certain county services.

According to Washington County officials, at this time, the disruption affected capabilities at the Emergency Communications Center (911) but did not prevent citizens from being able to report an emergency situation.

All critical public safety services have been operational. Citizens seeking emergency support can still place a call to the 911 emergency telephone number and public safety personnel will be dispatched.

In response to the incident, Washington County quickly commenced an investigation, with the assistance of third-party subject matter specialists, to investigate the source of this disruption, confirm its impact on our systems, and restore full functionality to county services as soon as possible.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
