WAYNESBORO—Pennsylvania State Police have arrested a Waynesboro man who allegedly conducted “sleep studies” on his victims and they are asking others who have been a victim to come forward.

According to police, David Clarkson McJonathan, 74, would conduct “sleep studies” on his victims, sometimes with the victim imbibing alcohol or other drugs such as melatonin before sleeping.

McJonathan has been charged with indecent assault, person unconscious. He was arrested in 2018 on multiple charges including corruption of minors, use/possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal use of communication facility.

McJonathan is being held in Franklin County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail, pending a preliminary hearing July 12 before Magisterial District Judge Kristin Nicklas

PSP asks anyone with knowledge of McJonathan or who may have participated in these studies to contact Tpr. Joshua Crouse, PSP-Chambersburg, at 717-264-5161.
