Waynesboro Post 15 defeats Shippensburg, Laurel

The Waynesboro American Legion Post 15 baseball team captured two wins this past week with wins against Shippensburg in a Franklin County American Legion League and Laurel (Maryland) in a non-league contest.

Waynesboro claimed a 11-4 victory on Wednesday, June 1, coming from behind to erase a 4-1 deficit.

Shippensburg got things started with three runs in the first inning. 

Waynesboro Post 15 American Legion pulled away for good with four runs in the fourth inning.  In the fourth, Josh Clapsaddle drew a walk, scoring one run and Bryce Shaffer tripled on an 0-1 count, scoring three runs to put Waynesboro ahead 5-4.

Waynesboro Post 15 American Legion put up four runs in the fifth inning.  Evan Swanson and Clapsaddle all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.

Isaiah Reed took the win for Waynesboro Post 15. Reed surrendered four runs on seven hits over four innings, striking out five.  Luke Martin and Garrett Beaver entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Waynesboro Post 15 American Legion collected six hits. Shaffer and Clapsaddle all had multiple hits for Waynesboro Post 15 American Legion.

Waynesboro 8, Laurel 6

Both Waynesboro Post 15 American Legion and Laurel, Maryland had their offenses going on Sunday, but Waynesboro Post 15 American Legion prevailed 8-6.

Waynesboro Post 15 American Legion fired up the offense in the second inning scoring 4 runs.  Bradley Butts had the big hit in the inning driving in a run.

After Laurel closed the gap to 4-3 in the 5th, Waynesboro tacked on a run on a double steal in the bottom half of the inning. 

Laurel again closed the gap to one with a run in the 6th. However, Post 15 pulled away with two runs in the 7th and another in the 8th to go up 8-4.   

Blake Daywalt earned the win for Waynesboro Post 15 American Legion. The lefty allowed two hits and one run over three innings, striking out three.  Logan Clappsaddle, Bradley Butts, and Isaiah Reed all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory. Reed recorded the last two outs to earn the save for Waynesboro.

Logan Clapsaddle led Waynesboro with 2 hits.
