CHAMBERSBURG—A portion of the iconic fountain on Glen Street in Chambersburg will be removed this week for a restoration project beginning Wednesday, June 1.
In April, Town Council awarded a contract to Robinson Iron Corporation to remove the cast iron basin walls and pedestals and replace them with new cast iron walls and pedestals, to include the artistic scrollwork.
The interior of the fountain, water feature and flowerpots will not be removed or impacted by the project. The new cast iron walls and pedestals are to be installed no later than Aug. 12, 2022.
Vehicle access around the fountain will be restricted Wednesday.
The fountain structure will be stabilized, and potentially covered with tarps, while the new cast iron walls and pedestals are manufactured.
The Borough and Robinson Iron Corporation apologize in advance for the inconvenience and thank vehicle operators for your patience.
