AHMFL announces April’s adult programs

WAYNESBORO—The following adult programs will be held at the Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library in April:

Walking Librarian Virtual Walks. Join the Walking Librarian each Monday at 9 a.m. on the library’s Facebook page for a weekly virtual walk, exploring places locally, throughout the county, state, country and sometimes the world.

Adult Virtual Story Time. Tune in every Thursday at 9 a.m. on the library’s Facebook page for a weekly virtual story time. Each week is a different fun story and each month is a new book.

Book Club. The newly formed book club will meet the first and third Friday of each month beginning April 1 at 1:30 p.m. Visit the library’s Facebook page or contact the library for the title of the current book.

Zentangle Art. This program features the art of creating beautiful designs using repetitive patterns, giving one a sense of accomplishment and well-being. Class will be held Monday, April 4, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Class is free, but registration is required.

Oddities: Authors & Stories (Virtual). In celebration of National Poetry Month, Edgar Allan Poe will be the subject of the program on Wednesday, April 6, at 9 a.m. on the library’s Facebook page.

Instant Pot: Healthy Eating. Are you thinking about buying an Instant Pot? Do you own and Instant Pot but are not sure of everything it can do? Are you curious what all the hype is? This may be the program to attend at on Wednesday April 6, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., to learn some basic techniques that will help you feel more comfortable making any Instant Pot recipe. Discover how to get tasty healthy dishes on the table in less time. Registration is required at the library.

Genealogy Club. Do you love genealogy? Meet other genealogy enthusiasts in the AHMFL’s virtual zoom meeting on Wednesday, April 6, at 6 p.m. The zoom link for the 6 p.m. informal discussion group can be found on the library’s website calendar.

Socrates Café. This gathering encourages the thoughtful exchange of ideas about existential/philosophical questions, with maximum respect for others’ opinions. The program is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 7 and 21. The zoom link can be found on the library’s website calendar. This program is held the first and third Thursday of each month.

Gamesboro Gaming Group. Explore history through strategy board games. This program will be held on Saturday, April 2, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on the first and third Saturdays of each month.

GamingZen. Do you like to play board games? Play Scrabble, Yahtzee, and many other games on Friday, April 8, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. This program is designed for adults.

Bad Art. Get creative and messy and enjoy some bad art with the library on April 8, from 1 to 3 p.m. No talent needed because, of course, it is bad art. Registration required. $3 per person.

Just Crafting Around. This new monthly program will be held the second Saturday of each month, beginning Saturday, April 9 at 10:30 a.m. This take-away craft will be an aromatherapy bracelet. The program is free, but donations will be accepted to help defray the cost of materials. Registration is required at the library.

Paint & Sip. Create your own Ladybug on a Flower in this fun class on April 12 and 26, beginning at 1 p.m. Step-by-step instructions will be provided, as well as all the supplies needed. Cost is $5 per person, payable at registration time. Class size is limited, so register early. You must attend to receive the kit.

18th Century Medicine and Surgery. This program on April 13, from 1 to 3 p.m. will look at the practice of frontier medicine. Historians from Conococheague Institute will be discuss the mysteries of medicine and surgery in the 18th century. This program is free and open to the public.

Hooks & Needles. Come Thursday, April 14, at 1 p.m. and work on your stitching project – crochet, knitting, cross-stitch, embroidery, etc. Bring your projects — bring your questions. The program is offered the second Thursday of each month.

Walking Librarian Monthly Walk. Join AHMFL at Franklin County ECO Park on Wednesday, April 20, at 9:30 p.m. for a monthly walk. Bring your camera or cell phone with you and participate in a photo scavenger hunt. This monthly walk is scheduled at various locations about the county on the third Wednesday of every month.

Blood Pressure Screenings. A free screening will be offered Wednesday, April 20, from 1 to 3 p.m. Open to anyone.

Healthy Lifestyles. What are you doing for your health and wellness? Join the discussion on Wednesday, April 20, from 1:30 to 2 p.m. to learn how you can begin your healthy lifestyle journey. Come early and have your blood pressure checked at our free blood pressure screening program.

Coloring & Chocolate. This program for adults is held on the 4th Thursday of each month—April 28 at 1 p.m. The library provides supplies and a chocolate treat.

Getting Into the Workforce. Need a resume? Help searching for employment? Looking for online classes? For help with these and other job search areas, attend Friday, April 29, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Amy Kuipers from PA CareerLink will present the program. Additional sessions will be offered with different topics in the coming months. This program is free and open to adults.
