SHIPPENSBURG — The Shippensburg University women’s lacrosse team was voted fourth in the 2022 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Preseason Coaches’ Poll released by the league office. The PSAC Preseason Polls are voted on by the league’s coaches.
PSAC Lacrosse operates in an Eastern Division and Western Division; this alignment was instituted beginning with the 2020 season. In 2022, each team will conduct double round-robin play against the schools in its division, resulting in six conference home games and six conference road games.
The Top 3 teams from each division will advance to the PSAC Championships, with the top seed in each division earning a first-round bye.
Shippensburg is in the Eastern Division along with West Chester, East Stroudsburg, Millersville, Bloomsburg, Kutztown and Shepherd. The Western Division includes Mercyhurst, Seton Hill, IUP, Slippery Rock, Lock Haven, Gannon and Edinboro.
The Raiders are under the direction of head coach Brooke Sabol and assistant coach Jacy Sterritt. Both women are in their first season at Shippensburg
The Raiders return 22 players, including 11 seniors. Among the key returners is Hannah Seifried (Springfield/Sacred Heart Academy Bryn Mawr) — the reigning PSAC Eastern Division Athlete of the Year. SU also has eight freshmen.
Shippensburg is scheduled to open the season Feb. 23 with one of its five non-conference games — a home match against Holy Family at Robb Sports Complex.
