WAYNESBORO–Every three years, Waynesboro hosts the annual Franklin County Tip-Off Tournament.

It’s the third year, and the Indians and Maidens will play the tail end of the high school basketball tournament in Waynesboro’s expansive gymnasium.

Waynesboro’s girls’ team will play Chambersburg at 7 p.m., while the boys’ squad will close out the quadruple header against the Trojans at approximately 8:30 p.m.

In the early games, Greencastle-Antrim and James Buchanan will play at 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., respectively, with the girls contest tipping off the two-day tourney.

The consolation and championship games will be played Saturday. The All-Tournament team will be announced at the conclusion of the games.

“Any time you combine four local communities who all have a tremendous amount of pride, in the same gym, basically at the same time, you have a recipe for some memories,” said Waynesboro boys head coach Tom Hoffman, whose team won the tournament in 2013 and 2018. “Adding to the mix is the fact that three of the teams play in the same division during the regular season, which means there is the potential for three games against each other during the year instead of just two. Simply put, it has been a neat thing to be a part of through the years.”
