Editor’s note: This is the seventh in a series of articles on where to “shop local, shop small” in and around Waynesboro.

WAYNESBORO—There’s a gift shop that may be Waynesboro’s best-kept secret—the Waynesboro Hospital Gift Shop—and it has a lot to offer.

“We have lots of gift ideas,” said Deb Kauffman, co-manager. “We have a kitchen section with oven mitts and spatulas. We have jewelry. We have a really nice selection of winter knit hats, gloves, scarves; stuffed dolls and teddy bears and we sell Melissa and Doug toys that are made in the USA.”

And those who just want to find some unique holiday décor will find options as well.

“We have holiday decorations and little candles and trees,” Kauffman said.

The unique thing about this gift shop is that it’s also a nonprofit and proceeds go to help meet patient-focused requests from hospital departments.

“We’re part of the Waynesboro Hosp Auxiliary,” Kauffman explained. “Any money we make, we give to the auxiliary, which gives it to hospital [departments] for their needs. In 2019 before COVID, we donated $45,000.”

Speaking of the pandemic, visitors can shop in the gift shop, but with some restrictions. “If you’ve been screened, you can come in. If you have business in the hospital, you can shop,” Kauffman said.

The Waynesboro Hospital Giftshop is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday.
