Riley Stoner may be the only member of the Fairfield girls wrestling team, but that’s not stopping the senior from still trying to be the best grappler on the Knights’ roster.
Stoner’s winning season continued last weekend with a strong showing at the East Pennsboro Tournament. Competing in the 124-pound bracket, Stoner went 4-1 with four falls to take second place. Overall, Stoner is 9-5 this winter with all of her wins coming by fall.
Elsewhere on the girls wrestling mat, Chambersburg improved to 12-5 after going unbeaten last week. The Trojans, who rank No. 15 in the latest District 3 power rankings, are expected to qualify for the duals postseason.
Speaking of Chambersburg, the Trojans’ boys swimming team kept its big season rolling forward, improving to 9-1 after winning three meets last week. Waynesboro’s girls swimming squad is 7-1 after securing victory over both of their opponents.
Smithsburg’s untouchable season on the girls basketball court continues after another dominant week that saw the Leopards (14-0) post blowout victories over Winters Mill (75-44) and Boonsboro (62-26). The hottest area team in boys basketball continues to be the Greencastle-Antrim Blue Devils, who went 2-0 last week to maintain control of the Mid-Penn Colonial Division.
