Believe it or not, the high school fall sports season is already underway.
Competition teed off last week for golf teams in the Mid-Penn Conference, with the Commonwealth and Colonial divisions both hosting meets.
Chambersburg went 1-9 over two Commonwealth meets, with Kasen Shaffer and Max Piper both carding 80s over that span. The seven-team Colonial meet saw Greencastle-Antrim (3-3) finish in third and Waynesboro (1-5) claim second. The Blue Devils’ Camden Eby shot a 78 for fifth place, while the Tribe’s Landon Crable finished in sixth with an 81.
The Mid-Penn girls golf meet was won by Waynesboro’s Abby Byers, who shot a four-over 40 to conquer the field of 22. Chambersburg’s Abby Rensch recorded a 44 for fourth place.
Action is slated to heat up this week with several other sports kicking off, including football.
