GREENCASLTLE – Greencastle-Antrim Middle School student Mady Nowell will perform the national anthem at the 2026 Pennsylvania Farm Show after earning second place in a statewide singing competition.
Nowell was one of 12 finalists selected in the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s “Oh Say, Can You Sing?” contest, which invited vocalists from across the Commonwealth to submit solo performances of “The Star-Spangled Banner.” Public voting for the finalists took place on the Farm Show’s Facebook page between Nov. 26 and Dec. 2.
After results were tallied, Nowell was announced as the second-place finisher. She is scheduled to perform the national anthem live on Saturday, Jan. 10, at 8 a.m. at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg.
The contest, held annually to open each day of the Farm Show, highlights Pennsylvania talent and encourages participants of all ages to bring creativity and heart to their performances. Winners will perform each morning of the weeklong event, which runs Jan. 10–17.
Greencastle-Antrim School District officials and community members shared messages of pride and congratulations following Nowell’s selection.
