Chambersburg’s high school wrestling program has consistenly been in a good place for well over a decade now.
Success like that doesn’t come from luck, but rather from years of preparation, starting at the youth and junior high levels. With a strong feeder program, the Trojans have been able to churn out battle-ready grapplers on a yearly basis.
And if the first two weeks of the season serve as any indication, Chambersburg’s youngsters show no signs of slowing down.
The Trojans crowned champions at the three events in recent weeks: The Dover, CPWA West Novice Takedown, and Cocalico Junior High Tournaments.
Competing in the Junior 9-10 division, Samuel Stoner won a title for the Trojans at Dover. Eight other Chambersburg youth wrestlers — Cash Furry (6U), Cullen Parr (6U), Brechtlee Holmquist (8U), William Hood (8U), Emery Niswander (8U), Camden Betz (12U), Rylan Eyer (12U), Samuel Goshorn (12U) — nailed down championships at the CPWA tourney.
The junior high Trojans flexed their muscle at the Cocalico tourney, with six grapplers returning to Chambersburg as champions: Mason Graver (115), Kolby Magnus (145A JV), Yoltzin Tovar (155A JV), Devin Edwards (170A JV), Axel Hernandez (210), and Julian Callejas (250 JV).
