CASCADE, MD— The Bass Fishing Tournament was held on Saturday, Sept. 16 from 7 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The tournament featured cash prizes for adults, door prizes, and raffles. There were youth and adult divisions, with children 15 and under paying $10 and adults paying $25 to participate. The event was a great opportunity for fishing enthusiasts to compete and enjoy a day out on the water. The tournament was open to all anglers, with a focus on black bass.

WAYNESBORO- The 8th Annual Oktoberfest at Renfrew Museum & Park was held on Saturday, Sept. 16 from noon to 4 p.m. This family-friendly celebration of history and the harvest was a fundraiser that benefited Renfrew. CHAMBERSBURG – A flock of flamingos has been spotted in St. Thomas Pond in Chambersburg, after being pushed north by Hurricane Idalia. The birds were first seen on Saturday morning, there were about 30 people gathered at the pond to see them. Some people said they had traveled four hours or more to get a glimpse of the rare birds. Hurricane Idalia made landfall in Florida on August 30 as a Category 3 storm. The strong winds and heavy rains from the hurricane are believed to have pushed the flamingos north. WAYNESBORO— Over 75 dogs took to the pool Saturday for Dog Swim Day at the Northside Pool. The event benefits the Northside Dog Park. Dogs of all shapes and sizes enjoyed the opportunity to swim and play in the pool. There were golden retrievers, Labradors, poodles, bulldogs, and even a few smaller breeds like Chihuahuas and terriers. WAYNESBORO- A group of 68 young entrepreneurs set up shop Saturday at the Kids Market Day in Waynesboro. The event, held at Main Street Park, featured a variety of goods for sale, including plants, bracelets, paintings, baked goods, and more. The vendors, who ranged in age from 5 to 18 years old, were eager to show off their wares and make some money. In addition to the vendors, the market day also featured live music.

WAYNESBORO— The Waynesboro Rotary Club organized a 7-mile and 5K run on Saturday, Aug. 26 to raise money to provide clean water to Maasai villagers in Kenya. The event, called the Run for Clean Water Kenya, was held in Waynesboro. Runners from all over the region participated, including members of the Waynesboro Cross Country teams. The goal of the run was to raise funds to purchase more portable water filtration systems and rain barrels for the villagers.
