HAGERSTOWN, Md. — Hagerstown’s annual Porchfest was a success on Saturday, May 16, as the rhythms coming from Prospect Street lured locals down the historic block. Hosted by the city and its historic society, the event featured over 40 musical performances on the porches of some of Hagerstown’s most historic homes.

Stretching the length of South Prospect Street, over a dozen porches hosted musicians from 11 a.m. through 5 p.m., ranging from bluegrass to rock music. Beyond the music, various vendors were set up along the walkways, as well as several food trucks. A beer garden was provided by Old Orchard Liquors where guests could sit in the shade and enjoy the music. St. Johns Episcopal church also offered free church tours, with sights of colorful stained glass and antique architecture.

Porchfest sought to bring appreciation to the historic street by showcasing the beauty of the once-coveted houses through music. Walking down the street, the atmosphere of admiration was palpable as spectators noticed slivers of history previously overlooked.

This beautiful, warm weekend in Hagerstown was alive with music, art and community with several events throughout the weekend. Porchfest took place just in between the series of events, overlapping with the National Pike Festival and Battle of the Cheesesteaks.
