Several weeks into the club soccer season, we’ve counted 13 squads from the area that lead their respective divisions.
This list includes two boys teams from the Chambersburg-based Union Soccer Club — the U11 Wave (3-1) and U11 Raiders (3-0) — who share first place in Central Pennsylvania Youth Soccer League’s Division 4-North. These squads met in the first game of the season, with the Raiders posting a 9-6 victory, and neither team has lost a game since.
The Raiders and Wave aren’t the only USC teams enjoying great success. Two other boys squads, the U13 United and U14 Lightning, lead their divisions in the CPYSL, and the same can be said for the USC’s U9 Tornadoes, a girls team.
Greencastle United Soccer Club’s U10 Hammer, a boys team, is enjoying a monster season in CPYSL’s Division 3-South. The squad is 3-0 and has outscored its opponents 20-7 in the process.
The United Recreational Soccer League features four division-leading teams from Waynesboro, and three from Smithsburg.
Waynesboros Youth Soccer Association’s Boro Girls, Warriors, Maiden, and Gold teams all control their respective divisions. Smithsburg Youth Athletics’ Webb, Young, and Smith teams are all undefeated in URSL play.
