CHAMBERSBURG – The Class of 2025 from Shalom Christian Academy recently traveled on a mission trip to North Carolina to assist with Hurricane Helene cleanup efforts. Originally scheduled to serve in Fort Myers, Fl., the students shifted their focus due to the pressing needs in western North Carolina.
This senior mission trip not only provided students with the opportunity to engage in meaningful service, Shalom Academy officials noted, but also fostered valuable cross-cultural experiences. By witnessing the challenges faced by families affected by natural disasters, they gained a deeper appreciation for their own privileges and learned essential lessons about compassion and community support.
The trip took place in November, specifically in the Asheville area, where the students contributed to ongoing recovery efforts.
