CHAMBERSBURG – Franklin County Commissioners announced that the countywide burn ban on all open fires has been lifted, effective immediately.
The move comes at the recommendation of the district forester and with the support of several fire chiefs across the county. Franklin County has received a sufficient amount of rain since first placing the ban into effect earlier this month, negating the need to keep such a restriction in place.
While the county has lifted its burn ban, local municipalities may still have bans in place. Residents should confirm any restrictions with their respective townships and boroughs before conducting any open burning.
Maryland lifted its statewide burn ban last week.
