GETTYSBURG- Each year, Gettysburg commemorates the sacrifices of soldiers from the Civil War with the 68th Annual Remembrance Day Parade, held on November 16, 2024. This event features reenactors from across the U.S. marching through downtown, paying tribute to the 3,354 soldiers interred at the National Soldiers Cemetery, which includes both Union and Confederate graves. As part of the evening’s solemn observance, luminaries will illuminate the cemetery, honoring those who fought and died in the pivotal Battle of Gettysburg from July 1-3, 1863. This year, the Gettysburg Foundation opted for LED candles due to a burn ban, ensuring that the tradition of remembrance continues safely and beautifully.
