WAYNESBORO – Noel Kline, younger brother of Rotarian Tod Kline, offered some insight into how professionals and volunteers work to protect the Gettysburg National Park.

“It is important to preserve what we have in the Northeast and the history behind it,” said Kline, a nurse by profession, who volunteers with the Park Watch Patrol at Gettysburg. The patrol assists U.S. Park Rangers with traffic and parking during events, helps patrol the park and cemetery, helps guide visitors and also keeps an eye out for illegal activity.

Kline also is an accomplished photographer who over the years has taken many photos of events at Gettysburg such as battle reenactments and a special Medal of Honor recipients dinner. He has assisted with the American Battlefield Trust, which helps raise money to buy property and preserve historic battlefields.

He said his interest in Gettysburg was sparked by the history of his mother’s grandfather, Ed Davis, who fought at Gettysburg on July 2 and 3, 1863.
