WAYNESBORO – Washington Township Supervisors will consider a zoning change to allow low-density housing at Waynesboro Country Club and a plan for a seasonal photo and events venue near Renfrew Park on Nov. 18.

The first hearing will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the Washington Township Municipal Building,11798 Buchanan Trail E. This item, concerning the country club property, will cover an agenda item previously presented to the supervisors. Country club officials hope to change zoning for a parcel located off Mentzer Gap Road from agricultural to permit low-density residential.

The hearing will cover the reason for the change, maps of the area and a potential ordinance. While action is not allowed as part of the public hearing, township supervisors noted, “Immediately after the public hearing, the board shall consider enactment of the proposed amendments during a regularly scheduled meeting …” The public is invited to the public hearing.  Anyone wishing to view the proposal and accompanying maps should visit the Washington Township website.

A separate public hearing will start at 5:30 p.m. in the same location.  This hearing will concern a request for a conditional use permit for property at 12952 Welty Rd. to operate a seasonal photo and venue for small events.  Currently, the beautifully landscaped property includes several, well-maintained and picturesque buildings across Welty Road from the former Washington Township Building and entrance to Renfrew Park.  Anyone wishing to comment on this item should do so in person during the public hearing.
