WAYNESBORO – Rough Edges Brewing in Waynesboro never seems to rest. They’ve been about brewing some great local beers since the very beginning in early 2020.
At that time the owners took over the old Waynesboro News Agency building, converting it into a five-barrel taproom serving their own recipes and wines. Since then they have been adding more and better ways to serve their clientele.
The latest addition is the club level located on the second floor of the property.
“This opens a place for Rough Edges customers to get out fo the hustle and bustle of downstairs,” according to Business Manager Casey Phebus, who, with husband and brewer Wes, own and operate the brewery.
Wes, who did the remodeling, converted an old apartment into a public space.
“It took two years to complete the work,” he said. “We were able to move more quickly when we first opened, but that was before the kids came along. We had to take out a wall and replaced apartment windows. With the large glass and bay window seating, we can offer a great view of the downtown area.”
Casey commented that in addition to being open to all, she is hopeful the room can serve as a rental space for special events.
With a menu that includes deli sandwiches and lighter fair, for those not looking for a big meal, this could be just the place to join friends for a nice evening before a movie or after one of many events downtown.
