College Corner: Chambersburg’s Stapleton brothers guiding Penn College into soccer postseason

It’s not uncommon to see siblings playing together at the youth level. If the talent level continues to grow, you might just see those siblings competing on a high school field together.

Beyond that point, however, is a college playing field that can only be reached by the cream of the crop. It’s difficult for just one player, let alone siblings, to earn the opportunity.

But brothers Logan and Austin Stapleton, both senior midfield players for the Penn College soccer squad, have not only found their way, they’ve flourished. The Chambersburg graduates have combined for eight goals and four assists this fall to help guide a Wildcats team that is set to compete for a United East Championship this weekend.

The Stapletons aren’t the only CASHS grads who have been competing this fall, as we counted at least 61 other ex-Trojans who are involved in sports this season. Chambersburg is not only well represented at the college level in soccer, but in football, cross country, volleyball, field hockey, golf, tennis, bowling, rugby, and western, as well.

In the months to come, we will rotate College Corner coverage to Waynesboro and Greencastle-Antrim, before circling back to Chambersburg, once again.

Are we missing any athletes? Please send submissions to Andy Sandrik via email at [email protected].
