HAGERSTOWN, MD- The Mason-Dixon District of the Boy Scouts of America will hold its inaugural Distinguished Citizen Award Dinner on Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Hagerstown Aviation Museum. The event, titled “Take Flight for Scouting,” honors two local leaders for their contributions to the scouting community and raised an impressive $36,775 for scouting programs.
Heather Guessford, President and CEO of United Way of Washington County, MD, was one of the distinguished honorees at the event. Guessford has been at the helm of the local United Way chapter since February 2020, bringing with her a wealth of experience in business development, public relations, and community engagement.
The fundraising dinner was hosted by local personality Lou Scally, who served as the Master of Ceremonies.
Alongside Guessford, Pennsylvania State Representative Paul Schemel was also honored for his contributions to scouting.
The choice of venue, the Hagerstown Aviation Museum, added a unique flair to the event, tying into the “Take Flight for Scouting” theme.
The successful fundraiser not only celebrated local leaders but also provided crucial support for scouting programs in the Mason-Dixon District.
This event marks another milestone in Guessford’s career of community involvement and leadership.
