Green Hill Cemetery recognizes fallen heroes this Veterans Day

WAYNESBORO — Green Hill Cemetery will hold its annual Veterans Day ceremony Monday, Nov. 11, at 11  a.m. at the Veterans Memorial on the cemetery grounds, 953 S. Potomac St. The event is open to the public and will be held rain or shine. If it rains, the service will be held in Otterbein Church, 912 S. Potomac St.

Command Sgt. Maj. Andrew Campbell, Pennsylvania National Guard, will give the featured address.

The following veterans’ names have been added to the memorial for this year and will be recognized during the service:

Civil War: Sgt. Jeremiah Shoop; World War I: Pfc. George Herbert Ervin, Chief Machinist’s Mate Milton Ward Garland, Pvt. John L. Shoop; World War II: 2nd Lt. Mildred West Stinson, 1st Lt. Elwood B. Fitzgerald, Technician 5th Grade Delbert L. Haines; Korean War: Cpl. Milton Ward Garland Jr., and Pfc. Alfred Ritchie Warner.

Inclusion on the Green Hill Veterans Memorial is restricted to veterans whose remains are, or will be, buried in Green Hill Cemetery. For more information, call 717-762-2759 or visit the cemetery office.
