HAGERSTOWN- While Groundhog Day is a little far off, The Washington County Department of Economic and Business Development is aleady planning the Friday, Jan. 31, event.

This family-friendly celebration is a hallmark event designed to highlight Washington County’s thriving agricultural community. The event will be held at the Washington County Agricultural Education Center, 7313 Sharpsburg Pike, Boonsboro. In the event of inclement weather, a snow date is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 14.

The Groundhog Day Celebration will feature local farms, farmers and value-added producers offering a wide variety of unique local products. Held indoors at the multi-purpose building, this event provides attendees with tasting samples from every vendor, opportunities to purchase products directly, live music,\ and a free kid’s area to enjoy. Approximately 350 tickets are available

This celebration, which welcomes visitors of all ages, brings wintertime awareness to the diversity of Washington County’s agricultural products. As many consumers often associate local produce with warmer months, the Groundhog Day Celebration demonstrates the availability of fresh, locally produced goods throughout the winter.

Vendor Opportunities also are available as the county seeks local farms, farmers and producers to participate as vendors at this event. Those interested are encouraged to complete the vendor application, available at 2025-GHD-application.pdf, or to contact Kelsey Keadle at 301-573-7039 or via email at [email protected]. Applications will be accepted through Jan. 10.
