HAGERSTOWN- Four SGI sites, including one in Blue Ridge Summit, have been recognized by the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association for their environmental and community relations efforts. SGI is based in Hagerstown.

Earning a Bronze Community Relations Excellence Award were: Annapolis Plant in Annapolis, Mo.; Charmian Plant in Blue Ridge Summit, Pa.; Ione Plant in Ione, Ca.; and Kremlin Plant in Pembine, Wisc.

The Community Relations Excellence Award recognizes NSSGA member companies who make significant efforts to support the communities in which they operate.

“SGI is proud to have these sites recognized for their efforts to support their communities,” said SGI President Justin P. Dunlap. “We are committed to helping our neighbors through volunteerism, charitable contributions and in-kind donations to local nonprofits.”

The Charmian and Kremlin plants also earned Bronze Environmental Excellence awards, which recognizes NSSGA member companies who model a strong commitment to the environment in their operations.

“SGI prioritizes the well-being of our environment by continuing to enhance the controls and systems we have in place across our sites,” noted Dunlap.

The announcement of the awards came during NSSGA’s annual Legislative and Policy Forum held at the end of September.

Headquartered in Hagerstown, SGI, a Standard Industries company, is a leading mining and mineral processing company specializing in the development of roofing products, building materials and soil amendments for agriculture.
