MERCERSBURG – Cumberland Valley Breast Cancer Alliance will hold a Big Bucks Bingo fundraiser at the Shippensburg Fire Fighters Activity Center on Saturday, Nov. 10. Big Bucks Bingo is the only bingo event to benefit CVBCA in 2024. Doors will open at 10 a.m., with games beginning at 1 p.m. Jeff Fisher Insurance Agency serves as the main sponsor for the event.

The event features $100 games, $1,000 special games and small games of chance sponsored by Vigilant Fire House Company #1. Tickets are $30 and include a turkey dinner from Amber’s Country Catering, sponsored by WellSpan Health.

Funds raised will provide breast cancer patients with emotional and spiritual support through various programs, including free mammograms for uninsured and underinsured women; a wig donation program; and financial aid for basic needs, such as housing, groceries, treatment or gas.

Jeff Fisher Insurance Agency, dubbed “The Pink Insurance People” for their promotion of breast cancer awareness, is well known in the Chambersburg community for bingo events to benefit breast cancer organizations. The gathering restrictions brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic put these events on hold. This is the first event the company has done since the pandemic.

“We look forward to reconnecting with everyone,” says Jeff Fisher, principal agent and owner. “We have such an amazing group of bingo supporters. In the past, we’ve invited guests to dress up and take photos at photo booths. We love the engagement and smiling faces.”

Fisher notes his inspiration for giving back comes from a book by Dave Longaberger, founder of the Longaberger Company. “He stressed that as a business owner, you need to give back to the community that supports you,” Fisher said. “If you want your business to be blessed, you need to be a blessing. That’s at the heart of why we do this.”

“It’s wonderful to be working with Jeff to bring back bingo,” says CVBCA president and CEO Samantha Logsdon. “We’re so excited to have support from Jeff and the Vigilant Fire Hose Company. At CVBCA, we say together, we can make a difference, and we are all coming together to do just that for our Pink Warriors. We can’t wait for you to join us!”
