Hagerstown city, congressional races featured at forums

HAGERSTOWN – The Washington County Chamber of Commerce will hold two breakfast forums to meet candidates for the Hagerstown City Council and for the Sixth Congressional District ahead of the Nov. 4 elections. Members of the public are welcome but are asked to register at the links provided.

Both events will be at Applause Caterers, 58 E. Washington St. Sign-in will start at 6:30 with breakfast served at 7 and the forums getting underway at 7:30.

The first will be from 7 to 9 a.m. Oct. 9 for the Hagerstown City Council race, where 10 candidates are vying for five seats. Candidates include incumbents Matthew Schindler, Peter Perini, Tiara Burnett and Kristin Aleshire, along with challengers Caroline Anderson, Erika Bell, Mark Bell, Sean Flaherty, Stacy Mitchell and Rich Owens. All seats are four-year terms.

The Sixth Congressional District forum will be on Oct. 16, where candidates Neil Parrott (R) and April Delaney (D) have been reported to be in a tight race.
