Only one team has been able to defeat the Greencastle-Antrim girls volleyball team this season.

The Blue Devils avenged that loss weekend to win the Manheim Central Tournament. Facing Chambersburg in the championship bout, Greencastle prevailed by a 25-22 score to seize the tourney crown. The Trojans had previously defeated the Blue Devils 3-1 on Sept. 12.

In boys soccer, North Hagerstown won both of its matches last week to improve to 4-0-1, tops in Washington County. Fairfield also went 2-0 last week to move up the YAIAA III standings.

On the girls side of the pitch, Greencastle-Antrim and Waynesboro both posted two-win weeks to stay in the Mid-Penn Colonial Division hunt.

Smithsburg was the area’s only winner in girls flag football last week, with the Leopards securing a 20-0 shutout over Clear Spring to improve to 2-1.

Finally, it was a big week on the course for the Fairfield golf team at Range End, as well as Waynesboro’s Tyler Fortney at Great Cove. The Knights ended their season with a victory in their final YAIAA III meet of the fall, as they overtook York Catholic for a win by two strokes, 326 to 328. It was the first loss of the season for York Catholic (29-1), while the win propelled Fairfield (23-7) to a runner-up finish in the division. As for Fortney, he won Tuesday’s final Mid-Penn Colonial Division meet with a 72, while teammate Ben Horst finished fourth with a 78.

Below is a sport-by-sport look at how teams in the Local.News coverage area performed last week:
