Fall sports are picking up momentum with each passing day, as more and more high school squads are kicking off their seasons.
High school football began last weekend and two area teams — Chambersburg and Waynesboro — were victorious in their season openers.
Greencastle-Antrim and Waynesboro opened their soccer seasons over the weekend, and the boys and girls squads for both schools will be seeking their first wins when they return to play this week. The same can be said for the Chambersburg girls tennis team, which is 0-2 to start the season.
We’re already two weeks into golf season, and Waynesboro’s Tyler Fortney continues to shine. Fortney landed a runner-up finish at Monday’s Mid-Penn Colonial Meet, while Greencastle’s Ben Horst was just behind in fifth place.
This will be a big week for sports in the Local.News area as our Maryland teams — Smithsburg, North Hagerstown, and South Hagerstown — are all set to embark on the 2024 journey.
