One of the most challenging things for any son to do is to follow in the footsteps of a successful father.

Multiply that difficulty by about three or even four times and you’ll get an idea what a day in the life is like for Cole Dewease, the son of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame member Lance Dewease, also known as the “Fayetteville Flyer.”

Cole Dewease proved once again that he is more than just the son of a big-name driver, as he raced to victory in the 600 Sprints feature over Jim Young and Brent Shearer at Path Valley Speedway on Saturday night. It was the first win of the PV season for Dewease, who ranks in the Top 10 of his division’s points standings.

The season-long sibling rivalry between the Myers brothers — Fayetteville’s Cory and Chambersburg’s Craig — resumed during Path Valley’s 270 Sprints feature. Cory, the points leader, took the victory, while Craig finished in third.

Also at Path Valley, Chambersburg’s Randy Burkholder nailed down a runner-up finish in the Limited Late Models race, behind race winner Michael Walls of St. Thomas, while Greencastle’s Tara Kerlin was the sixth-place finisher in the Thunder Cars feature.

Hagerstown Speedway also hosted a race program on Saturday, with Chambersburg’s Devin Friese highlighting local drivers with a win in the Legends race, which also saw Top 10 finishes from Fairfield’s Seth Kearchner (3rd) and Lincoln Kearchner (10th), Greencastle’s Logan Jones (5th), and Chambersburg’s Kirk Martin (8th).

Brian Booze, of Greencastle, earned a second-place finish in Hagerstown’s Late Model Sportsman feature.

Elsewhere, at Port Royal Speedway, the aforementioned Lance Dewease showcased his skills behind the wheel, landing a ninth-place finish after starting in the 21st spot.

Below is a speedway-by-speedway, feature-by-feature look at how area drivers performed last weekend:
