CASCADE, Md. – The Fort Ritchie Community Center will host health-focused events throughout August and September, aimed at providing essential services to local residents.

On Aug. 27, from 8 a.m. to noon, free blood pressure and pre-diabetes screenings will be conducted by the Washington County Health Department. This initiative aims to promote health awareness within the community.

Also on Aug. 27, The Fort Ritchie Community Center will also host Tabitha’s Table Food Pantry, distributing food items until supplies last. This service typically operates on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, beginning at 11 a.m.

Starting Sept. 5, the community center will offer pickleball sessions every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 to 11 a.m., as well as Thursdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. This popular sport is a great way for community members to engage in physical activity.

Tuesday evenings from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. are designated for teens aged 13-18. They can participate in workout sessions led by certified a personal trainer or engage in volleyball. While pre-registration is encouraged, it is not mandatory for attendance.

These events reflect the Fort Ritchie Community Center’s ongoing commitment to enhancing health and wellness in the Cascade area. Located at 14421 Lake Royer Dr., the center serves as a vital resource for various community programs and services. For further details about these events or additional offerings, residents are encouraged to contact the Fort Ritchie Community Center directly.
