While most families are still enjoying the precious few remaining moments of the summer, the fall sports season is already in “full swing” for high school golfers.
The golf programs at Chambersburg, Waynesboro and Greencastle-Antrim all kicked off the fall sports season last week.
Chambersburg, competing in a pair of Mid-Penn Commonwealth Division meets, is off to a 1-9 start with Carter Zeger leading the Trojans with one Top 10 finish. Emily Rensch, a competitor for the Chambersburg girls, already has a win to her name after taking medalist honors with a 1-over 73 in the season opener at Penn National Iron Forge.
Waynesboro (8-4) is one of the top teams in the Colonial Division, and the squad boasts one of the top golfers in the Mid-Penn — senior Tyler Fortney — who has earned medalist honors in each of his first two matches. He most recently fired a 3-under 69 in Friday’s Colonial meet at Range End Golf Course.
Life in the high school sports arena is about to get much busier this week, with tennis, soccer and football seasons all set to begin.
Below is a sport-by-sport look at how teams in the Local.News coverage area performed last week:
