Morral, Myers seize victory at Path Valley

Thirteen laps spelled bad luck for Tyler Lupton but just the opposite for Kameron Morral.

Lupton left Path Valley Speedway’s 600 Sprints feature after 13 laps on Saturday, forcing a caution. Hagerstown’s Morral was sitting outside of the Top 5 on the ensuing restart, but he zipped forward at a 79 mph clip, moving into third by the 15th lap and second place by the 16th lap.

Morral then rode his wave of momentum past race leader Jim Young and into Victory Lane.

The 270 Sprints feature saw Chambersburg’s Craig Myers stalk down his brother, Cory Myers of Fayetteville, for the win. Cory started in the second position and quickly ascended to the lead spot, while Craig chipped away until he was in the third position by the ninth lap. Craig moved into second place with five laps to go before overtaking Cory with two laps remaining and holding on for victory. Bradyn Kuhn of Greencastle finished in sixth.

Chambersburg driver Randy Burkholder battled to a runner-up finish in the Limited Late Models race. He outdueled Ralph Morgan Jr. for the second spot on the fifth lap before chasing race leader and eventual winner Cayden Ranck for the remainder of the evening. Burkholder was joined in the Top 10 by Chambersburg’s Stevey Lowery (5th) and DJ Myers (8th).

Two other Franklin County drivers landed Top 10 finishes at Path Valley: Chambersburg’s Rodney Walls (6th in Thunder Cars) and Greencastle’s Transtan Stoner (7th in Wingless Super Sportsman).

Hagerstown Speedway hosted a three-feature program on Saturday with a pair of Local.News area drivers — Hagerstown’s Brady Neff (Semi Late Models) and Blake Reed (Pure Stocks) — each earning fifth-place finishes.

Below is a speedway-by-speedway look at how race programs at Path Valley and Hagerstown played out last weekend:
