CHAMBERSBURG — Gardeners and plant enthusiasts are invited to showcase their successes and challenges at a Franklin County Visitors Bureau event on Thursday, Aug. 15. Titled “Gardners, Bring Your Best: A Lunch & Learn and Show & Tell of Fresh Food,” the event will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Great Room of the Franklin County 11/30 Visitors Center.

Participants are encouraged to bring either photographs or actual items from their gardens, including vegetables, tomatoes and flowers. This interactive “Show & Tell” format allows attendees to share their best gardening experiences, discuss lessons learned and express any frustrations encountered throughout the growing season.

In addition to the sharing session, attendees can look forward to lunch featuring locally sourced ingredients. The menu includes bologna and cheese, tomato pie, potato salad, corn on the cob, fresh watermelon and black raspberry ice cream. A special tasting of local peach varieties will also be offered, along with a preview of planting tips for the upcoming fall season. Door prizes will be given as well.

This event not only highlights the importance of local agriculture but also strengthens community ties through shared interests in gardening and fresh food, Visitors Bureau officials said.
