Regional aviation history to be presented at Fort Ritchie event

CASCADE, Md.- The history of Fairchild Aircraft and aviation in the region will be on tap at 6 p.m. event on Aug. 23 at the Fort Ritchie Community Center.

The 6 p.m. event will feature Kurtis Meyers, vice president and curator of the Hagerstown Aviation Museum. Meyers will deliver a presentation focused on Fairchild Aircraft and the rich history of aviation in the local region. The event is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. with light refreshments followed by a social hour at 7. Priced at $10, tickets can be purchased online through the Fort Ritchie Community Center’s website or in person at the Community Center or the Ritchie History Museum.

Meyers has played a significant role at the Hagerstown Aviation Museum, which boasts the largest collection of Fairchild aircraft and memorabilia in the world. This collection includes 23 historic aircraft and more than 10,000 photos and artifacts that encapsulate more than a century of aviation history in Hagerstown.

The event not only highlights the legacy of Fairchild Aircraft but also serves to promote awareness of the Hagerstown Aviation Museum’s mission to preserve and interpret the aviation history of the region. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with the local aviation heritage and learn about the pivotal figures and events that shaped it.
