GREENCASTLE — Carl’s Drug Store, the nation’s oldest independent pharmacy continuously serving a community, will mark the one-year anniversary of its new ownership at noon on Friday, Aug. 16. The public is invited.
Free lunch and ice cream will be offered for the first 200 guests at noon, while doorprizes also will be given. In addition, a 25 percent discount will be provided for all regularly priced storefront items. A formal ribbon-cutting ceremony will be at 12:15 p.m. The event will be at the pharmacy, 145 N. Antrim Way. Carl’s Drug was founded in 1825.
Over the past year, Carl’s has undergone significant changes, including expanded gift, supplement and essential oil selections, as well as new computer and phone equipment. Curbside pick-up, along with a free pharmacy app and a medication synchronization program to help patients taking multiple prescriptions, all have been added.
The new owner, Dr. Wayne Myers, and his team have worked to ensure the pharmacy meets the evolving needs of the community, while maintaining the familiar and friendly environment residents have come to expect.
“We are incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished in our first year,” Myers said. “Our goal was to create a place where people feel cared for and valued. This milestone is a testament to our awesome team and the support of our wonderful customers.”
The event offers a chance for local residents to meet the pharmacy team, while learning about the new services and products available.
