CHAMBERSBURG — Local education leaders are preparing for the 2024 Franklin County Education Summit, scheduled for Wednesday, August 14, at Wilson College. The event, which starts at 7 a.m., is organized by the Cumberland Valley Business Alliance and the Greater Chambersburg Chamber Foundation, and it invites both business and community members to participate.
This year’s summit will focus on significant topics such as workforce development, student success and job readiness. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in discussions about various initiatives currently taking place in schools throughout Franklin County. Notable speakers include Lura Hanks from Greencastle-Antrim School District, Chris Bigger from Chambersburg Area School District and Angie Petersheim from Shalom Christian Academy.
The summit reflects ongoing efforts in Franklin County to foster educational innovation and community involvement. Earlier this year, the county successfully held its third Semi-Annual Parent Summit, further demonstrating its commitment to involving families in the educational process.
The Education Summit serves as a platform for educators, business leaders and community members to exchange ideas and strategies aimed at better preparing students for future careers. This initiative aligns with the county’s broader focus on educational events throughout the year, including additional gatherings planned for May and December 2024.
Admission to the summit is priced at $30 for CVBA members and $35 for non-members. The event will include breakfast. It aims to enhance collaboration between educational institutions and the local business community, ultimately striving to improve student outcomes and address workforce needs. GDC IT Solutions sponsors the event, and the CVBA and Chamber Foundation hosted it.
