Local adoption of building code amendments approved by County Commissioners

HAGERSTOWN, Md. – Changes in the building code have been adopted by The Washington Board of County Commissioners. As a result, the County Commissioners are seeking five new members of the County Building Code of Appeals.

The Board of Appeals shall have the responsibility to hear and decide appeals to orders, decisions or determinations made by the Building Code Official relative to the application and interpretation of the Building Code. The Board may, as the law and county building code provide, reverse, affirm or modify the Building Code Official’s determination. Applications the appeals board will be accepted until an adequate pool of candidates is attained.

The commissioners are seeking five voting members who are qualified by experience and/or training to pass on matters pertaining to building construction and trade. Applicants must be residents of Washington County. Citizens interested in serving on the Building Code Board of Appeals are encouraged to apply early in the process.
