CHAMBERSBURG – A presentation on the $5.8 million Franklin County Human Services Block Grant Program for 2024-25 was presented during Thursday’s 10 meeting of the Franklin County Commissioners. The meeting is held in the Administration Building, Room 824, 272 N. Second St.
The presentation covers an agreement between the county and the state Department of Human Services, which include community employment, residential services, emergency services, vocational rehabilitation, mental health services, housing support, crisis intervention and homeless assistance, among others.
Also on the agenda was an agreement for a Peer Support Program that links certified peer specialists with those with mental health or related disorders. The program, which costs $6,726, is paid by federal funds. The peer mentoring, support and service are designed to help participants meet wellness goals and cope with challenges. Certified peer specialists create a one-to-one supportive relationship with the individual they are mentoring. This often also helps those making a transition from homelessness.
Meetings also include a public comment period.
Meetings are also live streamed on Franklin County’s YouTube channel and at http://bit.ly/BOCCLiveStream at scheduled meeting time
