Last Meeting’s Program (7.16.24 bulletin)
Waynesboro Borough Manager Jason Stains gave his classification talk after joking that he’s avoided the talk for a long time by “flying under the radar.”
Jason, a native of Waynesboro, graduated from Waynesboro Area Senior High School in 1997. He went on to Shippensburg University where, after being advised by his counselor to “not become a history teacher,” he ended up as one of 16 students in public administration at Ship, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in 2001.
While in college he interned with Citibank and upon graduation joined Citibank as a managerial trainee. He left the company after being informed he’d be located in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Unable to quickly obtain a job in management, Jason joined the Abraxas program for troubled youth and ended up working in that organization for 10 years in Pennsylvania, D.C., and Delaware.
Being elected to Waynesboro Borough Council in 2005 led to an eventual appointment as assistant borough manager in 2013. He replaced Lloyd Hamberger as borough manager in 2015 and has remained in the position since. Memorial Park upgrades, an area walking trail, Northside Pool, and many other projects have occupied his attention.
Jason lives in Waynesboro with his wife, Sarah, and two daughters, Delaney and Reagan. Sarah coaches in the WASHS and YMCA swimming programs. The family participates in many church and community activities.
Thanks,
