CHAMBERSBURG – The Chambersburg Police Department has announced road closures for the upcoming Old Market Day event on Saturday, July 20.
Philadelphia Avenue will be closed to traffic from Commerce Street south to Chambers Street from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. to accommodate a new traffic detour for the downtown special event.
Additional closures include Main Street from King Street to Washington Street and Lincoln Way from Second Street to Black Avenue. Queen Street will remain open to all traffic, but trucks and buses will not be permitted on King Street.
Residents will still have access to the area from Wolf Avenue during the closures.
Main Street between King and Queen streets, as well as Lincoln Way from Second Street to Black Avenue, will remain closed until approximately 11 p.m. for the Ransoming, Burning, and Rebirth of Chambersburg event.
Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes and expect delays in the downtown area throughout the day. The police department urges drivers to exercise caution and follow all posted detour signs.Old Market Day is an annual event celebrating Chambersburg’s history and culture. Visitors can expect local vendors, food, and entertainment throughout the downtown area.
