The South Central Pennsylvania and North Maryland area is set to come alive with patriotic fervor as towns and cities prepare for Independence Day celebrations. From Boonsboro to Chambersburg, residents and visitors alike can look forward to a day filled with fireworks, parades, concerts, and family-friendly activities.

Boonsboro kicks off the festivities on July 3 with its Independence Day Celebration at Shafer Park. Starting at 5 p.m., attendees can enjoy food vendors and live music by the Rohrersville Band, culminating in a fireworks display at 9:30 p.m.

The same evening, Hagerstown Community College will host the Maryland Symphony Orchestra’s Salute to Independence, featuring patriotic music and fireworks.

On July 4, Waynesboro’s Summer Jubilee Celebration promises a full day of activities, beginning with a 1-mile kids’ fun run at 7:15 a.m. and ending with evening fireworks. The event includes a parade, flag-raising ceremony, craft vendors, and live music throughout the day.

Chambersburg’s Independence Day Celebration at Memorial Park offers food trucks, beer tents, games, and inflatables from 4 p.m., with fireworks scheduled for 9:30 p.m. The Chambersburg Aquatic Center will also be open with special events.

Shippensburg and Hagerstown round out the regional celebrations with their own fireworks displays. Shippensburg’s event at Memorial Park features the Town Band, while Hagerstown’s show at Fairgrounds Park begins around 9:30 p.m. Attendees are generally encouraged to bring their own seating and refreshments, though some venues have restrictions on alcohol and personal fireworks.

Most events have rain dates scheduled in case of inclement weather. With such a diverse array of events, the South Central Pennsylvania and North Maryland area is set to paint the sky red, white, and blue this Independence Day.
