Greencastle’s Brian Booze won the Crate Late Models feature at Hagerstown Speedway last weekend.

Starting near the front of the pack can be a luxury for sprint car drivers, but it’s not necessarily a necessity.

Drivers from the Local.News area proved this again and again with brilliant come-from-behind efforts at Hagerstown Speedway last weekend.

Brian Booze, from Greencastle, won his heat race in the Crate Late Models program, but soon found himself in a tough spot when he drew the seventh position for the 20-lap feature. Unfazed, Booze worked his way up the field before driving to Victory Lane over Codey Breeden and Craig Parrill. Waynesboro’s Tyler Horst finished in sixth to maintain his lead in the Crate Late Models points standings.

Another big mover on the race path was Hagerstown’s Brady Neff, who earned the Hard Charger award after moving up nine spots from 11th to second in the Semi Late Models race.

Pure Stocks points leader Keith Reed, of Hagerstown, progressed from 10th to the third in his race.

Area drivers deftly defended their turf at Path Valley Speedway, with Chambersburg competitors posting Top 5 finishes all over the six-feature race program. Devin Friese earned a win in the East Coast Legends race, Kevin Bard (Thunder Cars) and Alyssa Rowe (Modifieds) pocketed runner-up finishes, and Steve Lowerey finished fourth in the Limited Late Models. The 270 Sprints feature sported an all-Franklin County podium, with Chambersburg’s Craig Myers, Fayetteville’s Cory Myers, and Greencastle’s Bradyn Kuhn finishing 1-2-3.

Finally, at Port Royal Speedway, Gary Stuhler showcased some slick driving skills, with the Greencastle driver moving up 10 spots from 17th to seventh in the Super Late Models feature.

Below is a speedway-by-speedway, feature-by-feature, look at how area drivers performed last weekend:
