CASCADE, Md. – The Fort Ritchie Community Center is providing a range of free health screenings and community services throughout July, aiming to promote wellness and support local residents.
On July 9, 19, and 30, the center will host free blood pressure and pre-diabetes screenings conducted by Lindsay from the Washington County Health Department. These screenings offer an opportunity for community members to monitor their health and detect potential issues early.
In addition to health screenings, the community center is partnering with Tabitha’s Table Food Pantry to distribute food items on July 9 and 23. The pantry, based in Smithsburg, Md., will provide supplies from 11 a.m. until stocks are depleted.
The center is also gearing up for the Fort Ritchie Triathlon on July 27 and 28. The event will feature kayaking, running, biking, and swimming, with participant registration and course safety measures in place.
On July 31, the American Red Cross will hold a blood drive at the center from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., addressing the ongoing need for blood donations. For those seeking relaxation, chair massages will be available on July 31 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Massage therapist Miranda Tyler will offer 10, 15, or 20-minute sessions on a walk-in basis.
These events underscore the Fort Ritchie Community Center’s commitment to promoting health and wellness while fostering community engagement in Washington County.
