WAYNESBORO- Organizers of the annual Waynesboro Summer Jubilee are seeking donations to fund the 28th edition of the popular community festival and fireworks display.
The Summer Jubilee, held each July 4th in Waynesboro, features a full day of free entertainment, exhibits, children’s activities, live music, food vendors and a fireworks finale. However, the event relies solely on sponsorships and individual contributions to cover expenses.
“We do not receive any government funding,” said a Jubilee committee member. “Our biggest expense is the popular and costly Fireworks Display.”
The daylong celebration kicks off with the Firecracker 5-K Run and Kid’s Mile Fun Run, followed by the annual 4th of July parade at 9:30 a.m. Craft vendors, games, musical acts and patriotic festivities continue throughout the day until the fireworks show at dusk.
Those wishing to donate can mail checks payable to “Waynesboro Summer Jubilee, Inc.” to 118 Walnut St., Suite 111, Waynesboro, PA 17268. The committee also welcomes volunteers and item donations for a raffle fundraiser.
