The high school sports season has officially come to an end for teams in the Local.News coverage area.
The last remaining squad in postseason play — the Chambersburg softball team — saw its spring come to an end on Monday. Facing Downingtown West in the opening round of the PIAA Class 6A Tournament, the Trojans competed hard against the No. 1-seeded Whippets, who came in with a 24-0 record, but ultimately fell by a 4-3 score.
Chambersburg concludes its season with a 17-6 record.
Summer break is now in session, but fall sports are not that far away: High school golf kicks off in mid-August, with other sports teeing off for their seasons shortly after.
