Young Sluggers Swung for the Fences

HAGERSTOWN, MD- On Saturday, June 1, the Federal Little League in Hagerstown, Maryland, hosted the local qualifying round of the 2024 T-Mobile Home Run Derby. The nationwide competition, open to Little League Baseball and Softball players aged 9 to 12, provided young athletes with an opportunity to showcase their power-hitting skills.

The event, which commenced at 4 p.m. at the Federal Little League fields located at 601 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742, witnessed an impressive performance from 12-year-old Matthew Finn. Representing the Federal Little League, Finn displayed remarkable hitting prowess, blasting an impressive 22 home runs to claim the local title.

The T-Mobile Home Run Derby was a nationwide event, with local competitions held throughout the spring and summer months. Winners from these local rounds advanced to regional and ultimately national rounds, where they had the chance to compete against the best young sluggers from across the country.
